12 Sep Is Your Filming Equipment Adequately Insured?

There are many considerations to make when trying to create a film masterpiece. Many video artists are so bogged down with perfecting each scene that they do not consider the potential of a catastrophe forcing them to stop filming. Without the right equipment, it is almost impossible for a film to be completed. This is where insurance comes into play.

Why is insurance a necessary purchase for filmmakers?

The most important type of equipment on any production set will likely be the camera. Serious filmmakers often choose a high-tech digital camera with extensive zoom options. Investing in an extra battery is also wise for longer videos. In addition, having a connected monitor could allow you to reply the last scene filmed with ease. You could probably spend several hundred dollars on the camera alone. Imagine all you could lose in a fire or other disaster. You could be out several thousand dollars or more. Would you have the financial ability to replace all your equipment or would your film have to wrap?

Will you soon be starting a new production?

You may want to consider obtaining insurance for your equipment. An accident could easily occur while transporting the equipment, setting up, or filming. Without coverage, you could find yourself paying for repairs or replacements out of pocket.
